Keep your number on sim only deals

Keep your number on sim only deals

How to keep your existing contract or payg number
on sim only deals

It is possible to keep your number on sim only deals and the process is quite simple. All you have to do is to follow the following steps.

Step 1.
Identify what network your are on.
You can do this by calling the customer service or asking from the shop where you bought the mobile phone. One more way of finding out what network you are with is looking on the logo on your mobile phone. The usual logo will resemble your network, but this method fails in some cases. Effective method of identifying your existing network provider is opening the back of your mobile phone and checking up the sim card. Usually the above steps will be sufficient to find out what network you are with.

So you know what network you are with, O2, Vodafone, Three, T-mobile, Virgin mobile, Talk mobile, Orange
Next step is easier

Step2.
Get your PAC code
(the code to transfer your number across the networks). Again there multiple ways of doing so. Some prefer calling up customer services and asking them directly for their PAC code. By the way PAC stands for Porting Authorisation Code. Some prefer a more secure method of giving their networks a written request for their PAC code. Whatever method you use keep in mind it is desirable to put a written notice for monthly contracts and usually the networks will release your number on the phone when you are using a Prepay simcard.

Depending on mail delivery and other technical details it can take a maximum of 3-4 working days to get your PAC code available.
Once you got your code (which is a mixture of numbers and digits example: ODE123898) it is straightforward to keep your number.

Step 3.
Give this PAC code to the new network provider on your sim only deal. One thing to remember here you can not keep your number on the same network sim only from same network payg, contract. So, make sure you transfer to another network with your existing PAC code. So in this step you again have two options: 1. Giving the PAC code in written 2. Giving the PAC code on the phone. I suggest giving the PAC code on the phone. This method should be sufficient for you successful transef of number.

The process here will take up to 3 working days

So in totsl you spend at most a week or so to completely transfer your number over to your new network.

Enjoy your sim only deal with the same number.
